Room Type
Select whether you're sizing for a residential or commercial space.
Affects the baseline cooling rate. Leave as "Other" if your space isn't listed.
Site/Room Dimensions
Measurement Unit
Is your room a simple rectangle, or does it have a cut-out (like a bathroom or closet alcove that breaks the shape)?Regular na parihaba ba ang kwarto, o may nakaputol na bahagi tulad ng banyo o sulok?
Measure wall to wall.Sukatin ang haba mula dingding hanggang kabilang dingding.
Measure end to end.Sukatin ang lapad ng kwarto.
Floor Area: — sqm
Standard residential ceilings are around 2.9 meters (9.5 feet). Only change this if your space has a loft, double-volume, or commercial height.
Does this room get hit by direct sunlight through windows or walls — especially in the afternoon? This significantly increases the cooling load.
Live Raw Calculation

BTU/h
BTU and kJ/h measure the exact thermal load of your space. Higher values require more cooling capacity.
Frequently Asked Questions on Aircon Sizing

How to compute aircon size in the Philippines?

While a basic rule of thumb is 1 HP for every 12-18 sqm, accurate sizing requires thermodynamic calculation. You must account for room dimensions, heat-generating appliances, occupants, and solar exposure. Our calculator uses Carrier engineering standards to process these variables and output the exact kJ/h and BTU/h required, preventing premature compressor failure.

How much is aircon per hour in the Philippines?

The cost per hour depends on your unit's wattage, inverter efficiency, and your local electricity provider. Using our integrated Meralco rate proxy, a properly sized 1.0 HP inverter aircon maintaining a 24°C setpoint typically costs between ₱4.00 to ₱6.00 per hour, assuming standard residential rates (₱12 to ₱14/kWh). Undersized units will cost significantly more as they cannot idle.

How many sqm for a 1.5 HP aircon?

In a standard Philippine residential setup with standard 2.9m ceilings and minimal direct afternoon sun, a 1.5 HP air conditioner can efficiently cool a room of 18 to 23 square meters. If the room has uninsulated roofing or heavy solar exposure, that coverage area decreases.

Measurement Guide / Paano Sukatin

How to measure your roomPaano sukatin ang inyong kwarto

1
📏 Get a measuring tape Any tape measure works — the kind you pull out and lock in place. You can buy one at any hardware store for ₱50–₱100. A regular ruler is too short; use a tape measure. Kumuha ng tape measure. Yung hinihila at naglo-lock. Pwede bilhin sa anumang hardware store.
2
🪝 Hook one end to the wall Press the metal clip at the tip of the tape flat against the wall. Hold it there — or ask someone to hold it. Then pull the tape to the opposite wall. Ilagay ang dulo ng tape sa dingding. Hilahin hanggang sa kabila.
3
📐 Read the number where the tape meets the wall Look at the number printed on the tape right where it touches the opposite wall. That number is your measurement. The tape shows feet (ft), inches (in), or centimeters (cm) — check which one yours shows!
4
🔁 Do this twice — once for LENGTH, once for WIDTH LENGTH = the longer side of the room. WIDTH = the shorter side. See the floor plan diagram below.
5
💻 Type your numbers in METERS The calculator only accepts meters (m). If your tape shows feet or inches, use the conversion table at the bottom of this guide.
🛏️ Example: Regular Bedroom (Top-Down View)
WINDOW DOOR BED WARDROBE LENGTH → WIDTH Top-down view — as if you are looking from above
✅ Measure from wall to wall — not from the furniture! Push the bed or cabinet aside if needed.
🔷 Irregular Room (with a bathroom cut-out)
BATH- ROOM (not part of room) A B A — Length A — Width B — Length B — Width
🔷 For irregular rooms: Mentally split your room into two rectangles (A and B). Measure each one separately, then use the "🔷 Irregular / L-Shape" option in the calculator. It will add both areas together automatically.
📐 Unit Conversion — My tape shows feet or inches, not meters!
Most tape measures in the Philippines show both feet/inches and centimeters. Check which side of the tape you're reading from!
To convert to meters: feet ÷ 3.28  |  inches ÷ 39.37  |  cm ÷ 100
Feet (ft) Inches (in) Centimeters (cm) Meters (m) ✅

8 ft96 in244 cm2.44 m
10 ft120 in305 cm3.05 m
